Singapore: establishing itself as IP services hub

In his opening remarks at the Europe Asia Patent and Patent Information Conference (EAP²IC) 2011, Quek Tong Boon, the chairman of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), stressed his office's commitment towards establishing Singapore as a regional service hub for international IP activities. Hosting the annual EAP²IC event was one part of this effort. Other measures included setting up the IP Academy (IPA) to promote capacity building and training of IP professionals and setting up the Singapore office of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Centre to facilitate alternative dispute resolution services in the region.
