Korea: English machine translations for Korean PCT applications soon available in Patentscope

According to an announcement of the Korean Patent Office (KIPO), Korean to English machine translations will soon be available for Korean international (PCT) applications in WIPO's Patentscope database.

Up to now, Korean to English machine translations have been already available as a payable service in the KIPRIS search system. This service covered only domestic Korean applications or PCT applications which were filed elsewhere and later entered the national phase in Korea. However, machine translations of PCT applications originally filed in Korea are not available in KIPRIS.. According to KIPO, users can from now on access translations of these documents in PATENTSCOPE free of charge for one year until late 2012.
