Find out more about:
ESPACE EP-A
ESPACE EP-A contains bibliographic data, full text and embedded facsimile images of European patent applications.
It includes searchable titles in English, French and German. The abstract, the complete description and the claims can be searched in the language of the procedure. References to the PCT publication number for Euro-PCT documents are available.
A pilot index gives reference to the documents published in the previous 5 years. The international applications published by the WIPO, and not re-published according to art. 158 EPC, are listed in a separate file.
ESPACE EP-A is suitable as an archive system of European patent applications and for carrying out state-of-the-art searches on EP applications. Due to its frequency of publication and indexed fields it is also a good tool for performing follow-up searches.

Nucleotide or amino and sequence listings are stored in separate ASCII textfiles with the extension TXT.
Publication of sequence listing by the EPO: see decision of the President of the European Patent Office dated 2 October 1998 (OJ 11/1998). European patent applications which, on filing, contain a sequence listing or consist of more than four hundred pages may be published in electronic form only, at present for example on esp@cenet and ESPACE EP. On request, the European Patent Office shall also make them available on another suitable medium: view list
All the different data formats of the applications (XML, SGML, TIFF, PDF, TXT files) can be accessed directly. The locations of the files are listed in the open index file 'exchange.idx' stored in the root directory.
