How do you know if an invention is still protected, or if it ever was? Where can you find at a glance information on the status of the invention you are interested in?

The EPO gathers legal status information from over 40 countries around the world in one database: INPADOC, the EPO’s worldwide legal status database. You can access INPADOC through Espacenet. In this webinar we will explore the background and coverage of INPADOC. We will also look at examples of patent applications and their legal status history. Latest additions to the legal status database include, for example, US patent term extensions and requests for entry into the national phase in Brazil. The examples will show you the richness of the legal status database. Our useful tables will give you the confidence you need for your searches in INPADOC. Last but not least we will point out the pitfalls and how to safely use of legal status data.

To make full use of the webinar we recommend the use of analogue headsets.
