Description

Technologies emerging from the field of computer-implemented inventions, in particular artificial intelligence, are ever-increasingly interlinked with “traditional” technical fields and have a growing impact on these fields. This evolution also impacts the health sector. As a result, examining patent applications has become always more challenging over the recent years.

The patenting activity in this technical field, worldwide and particularly in Europe, will be depicted from a macro-economic point of view and the examination challenges and the EPO practice will be presented from the technical, procedural, and legal point of view of patent examiners and patent lawyers.

The conference is public and aimed at various professional audiences potentially interested by the challenges of patenting in the combined health and emerging technologies sector. A one hour technical workshop addressing search techniques in this specific field is potentially more relevant to patent examiners.
