Weitere Informationen
Innovation is a key driver of sustainable growth, and Latin America offers significant opportunities, as well as some unique challenges, to further leverage intellectual property (IP) to its full potential. To address this, the EPO and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) have launched a joint study: Harnessing intellectual property for development: Opportunities and challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean.
This event presents the study’s findings and provides a platform for dialogue on how co-operation and knowledge-sharing can strengthen regional innovation ecosystems. Combining the EPO’s international patent expertise with ECLAC’s regional policy insight, and supported by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the event explores the gaps and challenges facing the region. Expert speakers will identify opportunities for collaboration and financing to help new ideas translate into tangible economic and social progress.
ECLAC (CEPAL in Spanish) was established in 1948 to promote economic and social development, and foster international co-operation. Originally focused on Latin America, its mandate expanded to include the Caribbean in 1984.
Established in 1959, the IDB Group improves lives across Latin America and the Caribbean through financial and technical support. Its three entities (IDB, IDB Invest and IDB Lab) collaborate with public and private sectors to drive innovation, research and sustainable development across member countries.
