Born in 1971 in Germany, Petra Först trained as a food engineer at TUM and gained experience at universities and in the food industry abroad. After returning to TUM, she developed a broad knowledge of emerging food processing technologies for future food production.
Currently she leads the food process engineering unit at TUM and works on sustainable processes and plant-based products. She also acts as an expert on the Senate Commission on Food Safety, which evaluates emerging topics and technologies in a proactive manner as part of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG).
