Ann-Veronica Janssens (*1956, Folkstone GB) works with light as her medium, and time and space are her recurring subjects. Light yellow green merely consists of a single spotlight and a colour filter. Yet as the intensely colourful light illuminates the wall and other surfaces, the interior of the building provides the canvas on which Janssens creates her composition. Her immersive installations have an enchanting effect, transporting you away from the everyday, to another world.

Beyond the powerful visual component of her work, Janssens' oeuvre is deeply rooted in her research. She carefully investigates the various possibilities presented by light and its intangibleness. Her installations play with our sense of perception as they explore the ephemeral phenomenon of light and the fleeting nature of an impression. Janssens’ work invites viewers to experience unique visual situations, shaped in part by their own movement around the exhibition space.
