Feng Chen (*1986 Wuhan, CN) uses various technological devices to highlight potential gaps between our sensory experience and our powers of perception. Chen combines this approach with his lasting interest in how machines can register a seemingly objective reality that is beyond our immediate understanding.

The series Between 20hz - 30hz comprises images of the surface of water subjected to sound waves at a frequency of between 20 and 30 hz. Thus Feng explores how a more or less audible experience (20 hz is often cited as the lower boundary of the typical human hearing range) can be translated into an optical form.
