Hans-Peter Feldmann

The conceptual photographer and object artist Hans-Peter Feldmann (*1941 Düsseldorf, DE) is an established presence on the international art scene. Since the late 1960s, he has focused on conceptual photography, which is invariably created by observing the mundane. In his oeuvre, the artist explores the trivial or banal aspects of life, as well as serious topics, all with a tongue-in-cheek slant. He takes his inspiration from everyday life, drawing on the limitless pool of public images, which he modifies by means of artistic intervention. The three photographs from the EPO art collection feature highly magnified, floral motifs, which are arranged against a vibrant, monochrome background. Appearing almost lifeless, the mise-enscène evokes postcard images from the 1950s. In his works, Feldmann examines the blurred boundaries that thereby emerge between art and everyday life and reflects on the concepts of kitsch and beauty.
