Patentability requirements at the EPO
The patent system is complex and involves numerous legal and procedural aspects. This course introduces participants to the legal foundations of the European patent system, and covers topics ranging from the requirements for patentable inventions to those for valid applications. Participants explore key European Patent Convention (EPC) concepts, including novelty, inventive step and patentable subject-matter. The course also addresses the formal requirements for applications, such as unity, clarity and sufficiency of disclosure. This introductory course offers key legal insights into the European patent system.
