IP strategies for universities
Universities create and disseminate knowledge; they are both producers and users of content protected by a variety of IP regimes. However, in order to maximise value for the economy, society and the university itself, they need clear strategies for managing their IP assets. This seminar aims to help university managers identify the key issues involved in establishing an IP management strategy. Apart from drafting suitable policies to deal with research outcomes, it will explore the commercialisation of patent-protected scientific achievements through collaboration with industry and the foundation of university spin-offs. Finally, the seminar will also present case studies of universities that have successfully implemented their IP strategy.
While we recommend attending all three sessions for a comprehensive overview of the topic, you may also attend individual sessions only.
