Disruption due to earthquake in Colombia
Following the recent earthquake in Colombia, today’s notice in the Official Journal outlines remedies available when time limits are missed due to disruptions beyond the control of applicants or proprietors.
As is standard practice in case of exceptional occurrences such as a natural disaster, a notice has been published in the Official Journal on the legal remedies provided for under the EPC, the PCT and the UP regulations in cases of non-observance of time limits.
Parties affected may invoke these safeguards if the earthquake impacted the observance of time limits vis-à-vis the EPO.
