EPO opens public user consultation on creation of Observatory
The EPO has launched an online public consultation on the creation of an Observatory. We encourage all stakeholders to review the orientation document and provide feedback by end-of-business on Friday, 4 March 2022.
SP2023 outlined the vision for such a structure: an Observatory to contribute to a deeper understanding of important issues related to innovation and the patent system. The platform aims to address the diverse needs of various user groups and actively bring together public and private stakeholders to discuss the latest developments in the patent system based on analyses of patent trends.
The new platform's accessible and user-friendly format will provide enhanced patent data mapping and visualisation. As a central network, it will also enhance communication and outreach, facilitating a wider understanding of the patent system. The Observatory will enable the EPO and its partners to better respond to challenges, anticipate change and take measures leading to economic, social and environmental progress.
In order to achieve these goals, the Observatory should represent all stakeholders and include diverse viewpoints. Your input is therefore essential in shaping its future.
