EPO President meets with BusinessEurope’s Patent Working Group
On 25 November 2024, EPO President António Campinos chaired an online meeting between the European Patent Office and BusinessEurope’s Patent Working Group. The meeting aimed to reinforce collaboration and address strategic priorities through open dialogue with European industry representatives.
Key topics included recent developments at the EPO, updates on initiatives implementing the EPO‘s quality action plan and the latest developments concerning operations and policies of the Unitary Patent system. The EPO also provided updates on the EPO’s Observatory on Patents and Technology, designed to offer deeper insights into innovation trends.
This meeting reaffirmed the strong partnership between the EPO and BusinessEurope, fostering productive dialogue and collaboration to support European innovation and industry. These discussions will continue at a technical meeting with BusinessEurope, scheduled for late February 2025.
Thierry Sueur, Chair of the Patent Working Group at BusinessEurope, took the time to answer some questions during an interview with the EPO.
