Have your say in the user satisfaction surveys 2026–2027

Over the coming months, users will be invited to share their views on key EPO services. The results will help shape future improvements across the patent granting process and user support.

Every two years, the European Patent Office (EPO) gathers feedback from users of the European patent system through its user satisfaction surveys. As part of its ISO 9001-certified quality management system, this feedback helps ensure that EPO products and services continue to meet user needs.

Alongside ongoing qualitative feedback gathered through meetings with user associations and other channels, anonymous surveys provide quantitative insights into user satisfaction. This allows performance to be assessed consistently across services and over time.

In the 2026–2027 cycle, seven surveys will be conducted, covering the following areas:

  • Filing
  • Search
  • Examination, final actions and publications
  • Opposition
  • Customer services
  • Key account management
  • EPO website experience

The surveys will provide a clear picture of how users experience each stage of the end-to-end patent granting process, as well as EPO user support and online services.

They are carried out by BERENT Deutschland GmbH. All feedback remains anonymous, and we would like to thank users who are contacted by BERENT for taking the time to share their views. Together with BERENT, interviews are designed to be focused, comprehensive and respectful of participants’ time.

The survey results, together with information on the actions taken in response to your feedback, will be published on the EPO website in 2027.
