Solidarity with Portugal after tragic funicular accident

We are deeply saddened by the news of the tragic accident on Lisbon’s iconic Glória funicular, leading to multiple fatalities and many injured.
As a sign of solidarity, today the European Patent Office will fly the European Patent Organisation and Portuguese flags at half-mast in Munich and The Hague. This coincides with the day of national mourning that has been declared in Portugal.
Our thoughts are with all the victims and their families at this difficult time.
In addition, a letter of condolence is being sent to the head of Portugal’s national office.
