End-of-year crossword

This issue of Patent Knowledge News comes bearing gifts: free subscriptions to Global Patent Index (GPI) and PATSTAT! But first you must solve the crossword puzzle and find the magic words! You can find all 24 solutions in articles that have appeared in Patent Knowledge News this year - all you have to do is take a closer look.

How to participate

Download the editable pdf and fill out the crossword. The numbers in the top left-hand corner of the boxes match those of the clues, while the numbers in the bottom right-hand corner represent the letters of the magic words. The solutions may include letters, numbers and special characters.

Once you've found the magic words, email them to us at pknews@epo.org before the competition closes on 10 February 2022. Put the words "Patent Knowledge News end-of-year crossword" in the subject line and include the following information in the body of your email: the magic words, your full name and your contact email address.

Competition rules

Every 24thperson to send us the correct answer will receive an offer of a free subscription to either Global Patent Index (GPI) or PATSTAT (your choice) for 2022. The subscription will start on 1 April 2022 and run until 31 December 2022. If you are one of the lucky winners, we will contact you by 17 March 2022.

Competition organisers

This competition is organised by the European Patent Office (EPO), Bob-van-Benthem-Platz 1, 80469 Munich, Germany.

Rules of entry

The competition is not open to EPO staff in active employment on the date on which the competition ends, or to service providers or employees of service providers who are, were or may be involved in the organisation of the competition, the compilation of the clues, the judging of the entries or the drawing of the winners. There is only one entry per participant. If a participant submits more than one entry, the organisers reserve the right to exclude all that participant's entries from the judging and the drawing of the winners.

Closing date

The closing date for entries is midnight on 10 February 2022. The organisers reserve the right to close the competition at any time in advance of this date. The winners will be notified no later than four weeks after the end of the competition. No cash alternatives will be offered.
