Why are oral proceedings audio recorded?

Oral proceedings are audio recorded so that we can use AI to minute the proceedings, see Article 1(1) of OJ EPO 2025, A32. When we use AI in the patent grant procedure, we strictly follow a human-centric approach: the competent department remains fully responsible for the wording of the minutes of proceedings.
