Can the processing of an appeal be accelerated?

The board of appeal may accelerate the proceedings of its own motion.
Parties may ask the board to deal with their appeals rapidly. They shall cite their reasons for doing so, so that the board can take a discretionary decision on the matter.
National courts, other competent authorities in an EPC contracting state or the UPC may also request acceleration of appeal proceedings. As a rule, the board will grant such requests.
