I withdrew an application recently, having paid a renewal fee before the due date. Will that fee be refunded?

Yes. We will acknowledge receipt of the declaration of withdrawal of your European patent application using Form 2077N, and confirm the termination of proceedings using Form 1152. Although the checkbox for renewal fees might not be selected in Form 2077N, any refunds will include any renewal fees paid ahead of their due date. 

On 7 October 2024 a new fee architecture entered into force, allowing for further automation of the processing of renewal fees. Under the new setup, the checkbox in Form 2077N for the refund of a renewal fee is no longer selected and Form 1152 no longer includes instructions to Directorate Treasury and Accounts to refund any renewal fee not due. 

But please rest assured that we will refund your renewal fee shortly and will inform you using Form 2907 when we have done so.
