ASEAN: First Singapore patent recognised in Cambodia

Désolé. Actuellement, cette page n'existe pas en français.

As announced in an earlier update, businesses or inventors seeking patent protection in Cambodia may now do so through the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS). According to a press release on 10 March 2015 by the IPOS, less than two months after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between IPOS and Cambodia’s Ministry of Industry and Handicrafts (MIH), the first Singapore patent was granted protection and recognised in Cambodia on 4 March 2015. The landmark application was based on a positive report by IPOS’ Search & Examination Unit and also marked Cambodia’s first-ever granted patent. Alongside on-going patent work-sharing programmes like the ASEAN Patent Examination Cooperation (ASPEC), the cooperation between Singapore and Cambodia enables prospective companies to access the regional common market more effectively. This is in alignment with the region’s plans for the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015
