According to a press release (Chinese only), the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO) launched a "Cloud Patent Examination System" (CPES) on 22 May 2015. The aim is to further improve the quality and efficiency of the patent examination procedure by sharing resources between patent offices. Currently, the system provides access to resources of 16 patent offices, including SIPO, EPO, JPO, KIPO, USPTO and DPMA.
Via CPES, examiners may share patent examination information, such as bibliographic data and published literature of patent offices of various jurisdictions, using cloud computing technology. The system also enables group discussions, instant communication and other forms of interactive exchange.
CPES supports interfaces in nine languages including Chinese, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic. Machine translation for twelve languages, among them Chinese, English, Korean, and Japanese, is possible.
