Chinese Taipei: Amended Patent Attorney Act in force

As announced in an earlier Update, the Taiwan Patent Office (TIPO) recently amended the Patent Attorney Act which became effective on 1 January 2016. With the revision, administrative procedures were simplified, areas of practice were expanded and a heavier punishment for malpractice was introduced. In addition to founding law firms or working for patent firms, Taiwanese patent attorneys can now also be employed by registered corporations.

Details on the amendments can be found in an English news item on TIPO's website and in a dedicated FAQ section (Chinese only).
