Chinese Taipei/Korea: exchange of priority documents between TIPO and KIPO

On 1 January 2016, the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) and the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) started to co-operate on priority document exchange (PDX) in order to speed up examination procedures and provide more convenience to applicants.

Applicants who filed a patent application with the Office of First Filing (OFF) and then file another application for the same invention with the Office of Second Filing (OSF) may request PDX within 16 months of the earliest priority date. The documents will then be exchanged electronically between the two offices. The service is free of charge for applicants. In addition to a short news item on TIPO's English website, comprehensive guidelines are available (Chinese only).
