Japan: JPO lowers fees for patents and trade marks

On 12 February 2016, the Japan Patent Office (JPO) announced the revision of its fee schedule. For fees concerning patents (application fees, different requests, annual fees etc.) there will be a reduction of around 6-7%. However, for trade marks, the fees are being lowered for even around 20%. These fee changes are supposed to support economic growth and will come into force on 1 April 2016.

A comparison of the old and the new fee schedules in English can be found on the JPO website.
