The "Patent Information Promotion Center" (PIPC) implemented a tool to monitor lapses of Korean patents and utility models. The tool allows users to specify a time range and IPC section and provides a list of all patents and utility models which lapsed in the selected time period and technical field. It covers both lapses due to non-payment of annual fees as well as lapses due to the expiry of the patent/utility model term.
Users can access this tool free of charge on the website of PIPC's K-PEG service ("Korean Patent Evaluation and Grading"). Unfortunately, the monitoring tool is available in Korean only. However, the EPO's team for Asian patent information created a new search guide explaining users step by step how to use this service even without Korean language skills. This search guide is available in the "Searching in databases" section for Korea.
