DIPP India which is also responsible for formulation of policies related to IPRs has recently published its annual report for the year 2017/2018. In Chapter 13, the annual report describes important accomplishments of India’s National IPR policy including IPR awareness programmes such as Cell for IPR Promotion and Management (CIPAM).
The report also contains information on functioning of the Indian Patent Office (IPO) and IPO’s actions and initiatives launched in the year 2017/2018 including:
• introduction of user feedback mechanism
• auto-allocation of requests for examination across four branch patent offices
• sms alerting system or regular stakeholders meetings
Furthermore readers can learn more about the implementation of India’s official language policy which might also have effect on patent information as for example all letters received in Hindi have to be replied in Hindi only.
