The Chinese Patent Office's (CNIPA) official "China Patent Inquiry System" (CPQUERY) is currently the only publically available resource for checking the fee payments of Chinese patents. Launched in April 2012, CPQUERY offers online access to the file wrappers of Chinese patents, utility models and designs via an English interface. In addition to the CNIPA's office actions, users can also view the documents submitted by the applicant during the procedure.
As of August 2018, CPQUERY's public search portal requires prior registration with an individual mobile phone number. After registration, login is required before each session, but access remains free of charge. The search guide on CPQUERY on the "China - Searching in databases" section on the EPO website has already been updated to reflect the recent changes.
Users located outside China may encounter technical difficulties with the registration procedure. In these cases, the EPO's Asian Patent Information Services can assist with the creation of user profiles, in co-operation with CNIPA.
