According to an official announcement by the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO), amendments to the Patent Examination Guidelines entered into force on 1 November 2018.
The amendments have been implemented in light of recent law changes. Specifically, they concern the following practices: dual filing (Examination Guidelines, Chapter 2), priority documents (Chapter 7), submission of corrections for patent and utility model applications (Chapter 10), divisional applications (Chapter 13), postponement of patent publication (Chapter 17) and patent term extensions (Chapter 18).
After signature of a bilateral MOU on mutual Co-operation on the Deposit of Biological Materials with the UK in 2017, the related paragraphs have also been revised (Chapter 8).
An explanatory document containing all recent amendments can be found on TIPO's website (Chinese only).
