    1.3.2.  Rules relating to Unitary Patent Protection

    The UPR lay down the procedures entrusted to the EPO under Regulations (EU) No 1257/2012 and No 1260/2012 and provide for the establishment of the UPP Division. The main provisions relate to the request for unitary effect, the procedure for obtaining a Unitary Patent at the EPO and the legal remedies available. The UPR were adopted in December 2015 and last amended by the Decision of the Select Committee of the Administrative Council of 13 November 2024 amending the Rules relating to Unitary Patent Protection (SC/D 1/24; see OJ EPO 2024, A96).
