    INTERNATIONAL TREATIES
    PCT

    I. Declaration of continuation by Belarus

On 14 April 1993 Belarus1 deposited with the Director General of WIPO a declaration of continuation, the effect of which is that the PCT is applied by Belarus. It has therefore become a PCT Contracting State, which means that nationals and residents of that State may now file international applications and Belarus may be designated and elected in international applications.

    II. Accession of Latvia

Latvia has deposited its instrument of accession to the PCT, which will enter into force for Latvia on 7 September 1993.

Consequently, as from 7 September 1993, nationals and residents of Latvia are entitled to file international applications under the PCT and Latvia may be designated and elected in any international application filed on or after that date.

1 For the application of the PCT in the Russian Federation and Ukraine, see OJ EPO 1993, 100. For the application of the PCT in Kazakhstan, see OJ EPO 1993, 335.
