Aperture card production to stop at year's end 1996
The European Patent Office intends to stop producing patent documents on microfilm aperture cards at the end of 1996.
In recent years, most users have switched from the cards to the ESPACE CD-ROM programme, which provides cost-effective and greatly improved access to the same information. Given the resulting low production volume, the aperture card service could have continued only at excessive cost to users.
