    INFORMATION FROM THE EPO

    New microsite on legislative initiatives in European patent law

    In order to provide comprehensive and up-to-date information on the various reform initiatives currently under discussion in the patent field in Europe as well as easy access to the relevant documents, a new Internet platform (called a microsite) has been included in the EPO's homepage.1 The focus is on:

    • revision of the EPC (EPC 2000);
    • organisational autonomy of the EPO's boards of appeal;
    • London Agreement for the reduction of translation costs;
    • European Patent Litigation Agreement (EPLA).

    Of immediate interest are two tables showing the status of the national ratification and accession procedures relating to the

    • EPC 2000;2
    • London Agreement.3

    In addition, the complete collection of travaux préparatoires to the EPC 2000 has been included in the microsite.
