New fee rates
By Order No. 1098/20081 of 30 September 2008 some patent fees of the Portuguese Patent Office have been changed.
Applicants for and proprietors of European patents with effect in Portugal are advised that from 1 October 2008 the following rates apply:
1. Filing of European patent applications with INPI:
Transmittal fee: EUR 20 (only on paper)
2. Publication of translation of the claims pursuant to Article 67(3) EPC (provisional protection):
Filing fee: EUR 50 if filed online, EUR 100 if filed on paper
3. Publication of translation of the patent under Article 65 EPC (validation of the European patent):
Filing fee: EUR 50 if filed online, EUR 100 if filed on paper
In the case of correction of names or addresses of the applicant or patentee, there is no fee.
In the case of document junction: no filing fee if filed online, EUR 5 if filed on paper
Validation of B2, B3, B9: filing fee EUR 50 if filed online, EUR 100 if filed on paper

Filing fee: EUR 90 if filed online, EUR 180 if filed on paper
Search fee: EUR 20 if filed online, EUR 40 if filed on paper
6. Conversion of European patent applications or patents into national model utility applications or utility model:
Filing fee: EUR 50 if filed online, EUR 100 if filed on paper
Examination fee: EUR 75 if filed online, EUR 150 if filed on paper
7. Registering a transfer, licence or other right:
Transfer fee: EUR 100 if filed online, EUR 125 if filed on paper
Licence fee: EUR 85 if filed online, EUR 100 if filed on paper
Compulsory licence fee: EUR 85 if filed online, EUR 100 if filed on paper
Updating the EPO information brochure "National law relating to the EPC"
Users of this brochure (13th edition) should amend accordingly the information in Tables II, column 5, III.B, columns 2 and 9, IV, columns 3 and 10, VI, column 1, VII, column 2, and IX, column 4.
