    Foreword

The present report "Case law from the Contracting States to the EPC 2014-2016" focuses on issues of substantive patent law in Europe. It also touches on institutional matters and sets out examples of European patents which have been litigated in several jurisdictions. Arranged according to topic and country, the summaries included in this, the fourth such compilation will give the reader an overview of interesting judgments handed down by national courts in the period from mid-2014 to the end of 2016.

I wish to thank the Legal Research Service of the Boards of Appeal, which has been responsible for producing the report. I would also like to thank the EPO Language Service for their continued invaluable translation work, as well as all other staff who have contributed to the production of this Official Journal supplementary publication.

    Carl Josefsson
