For these reasons it is decided:
1. The decision under appeal is set aside.
2. The case is remitted to the first instance with the order to grant a patent in the following version:
(a) claims 1 to 19 for all designated Contracting States except ES and GR,
(b) claims 1 to 19 for the designated Contracting States ES and GR
(c) description pages 1 to 44,
(a) to (c) filed on 17 July 2002 and
(d) drawings as originally filed.
