The SACEPO is the EPO's main advisory body bringing together user representatives and EPO management in a standing framework allowing consultations and exchanges on all major proposals and projects relating to the development of the European patent system.

The functions of the SACEPO are purely advisory in nature. Regular meetings enable the EPO and user representatives to engage in a constructive dialogue and discuss proposed changes to European patent law and practice early on in the decision-making process.

The Main SACEPO - together with the five SACEPO Working Parties established over the years to address particular areas - offer a tried and trusted platform for reviewing projects and pilot programs and for gathering stakeholder feedback on other projects such as the EPO's Quality Management System, the Unitary Patent and the Convergence of Practice programme.
