Third-party observations

Under Article 115 of the European Patent Convention (EPC), anyone can submit observations on the patentability of a published European patent application. This helps ensure that only truly patentable inventions are granted.

Even if you are not involved in the proceedings, you can share your views in English, French or German on why a patent application should not be granted. Your observations will be added to the application file and communicated to the applicant.
