Discover all the activity types provided by the EPO:
A lecture is an online (live) presentation given by an expert or group of experts to an unlimited audience. Interaction in real time is possible for live sessions and for non-live sessions, a forum is sometimes available. As lecture are recorded, they can be revisited anytime!
Online courses focus on a systematic transfer of knowledge that involves more than one specific topic. This reflects in their multi-layered structure which often compromises an introduction, development and consolidation block, where you can test your knowledge with a test/quiz and obtain a certificate.
Some of the courses constitutes building blocks of learning paths on a particular topic. Click here to learn more.
An online seminar is a training event with a practical component, i.e., participants can practise specific skills that are in the focus of the event, in order to be able to apply it. Experienced tutors/experts provide input and guidance throughout the event and therefore the number of participants is limited.
An online workshop is a peer-to-peer event and provides hand-on experience. Participants are expected to have a certain level of expertise and work together on a topic of common interest.
A conference is a (live) online or an in-person event with an expert or several experts and an audience. It may extend over several days. Conferences cover one specific topic and may be targeted at different types of audience.
A study visit is an online event which gives participants a hands-on experience of the EPO and an insight into the work of EPO experts from a technical field. Participants also have the opportunity to make questions to examiners. Attending study visits does not require any previous level of expertise, and it is indeed a good occasion to get to know the Office.
