The winners of the European Inventor Award 2019 will be announced later this week (20 June) when the EPO and IP community come together to celebrate the spirit of innovation at a ceremony in Vienna. The award, now in its 14th year, is one of Europe’s most prestigious prizes for inventors.
Awards will be presented to the winners of each of the five categories: "Industry", "Research", "Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)", "Non-EPO countries", and "Lifetime achievement", in addition to the winner of the Popular Prize, who is selected by the public from among the 15 finalists via online voting.
The Award ceremony will be broadcast live from the Wiener Stadthalle on 20 June between 11.00 and 13.00 CET, and can be watched on the EPO website, the EPO's Facebook page and via the EPO's "Innovation TV" Smart TV app. It will be available afterwards on demand via these channels too.
This year, the ceremony will also be broadcast live on television in Germany (ServusTV Deutschland) and Austria (ServusTV Österreich), as well as French station Science & Vie TV. In addition, Europe by Satellite (EbS+), the EU information service, and the European Commission’s central YouTube account will transmit the event, and it will be streamed from the website of Euronews as well.
