Georgia in the European Patent Register
Finding data on Georgia in the European Patent Register
On 15 January 2024 the validation agreement between the European Patent Office (EPO) and Georgia (GE) entered into force. As a result, inventors and businesses are now able to validate their European patent applications and patents granted by the European Patent Office (EPO) in Georgia on the basis of the country's national law.
If designated as a validation state, Georgia will feature in a number of the European Patent Register panel views.
EP About this file
If Georgia is designated, the country code "GE", will now appear in the "Validation states" section (see Figure 1).

A European patent application can be filed in any language, but must be translated into one of the EPO's official languages (English, French and German). Please note that if an application is filed in Georgian, the "Filing language" section of the EP About this file panel view displays the Georgian language code "KA" (see Figure 2).

If designated, Georgia's country code (GE) will now appear in the "Validation states" section (see Figure 3), and post-grant information about the validation of the EPO patent in Georgia will be displayed in the INPADOC data section of the EP Legal status panel view.
