On behalf of the European Patent Office, I wish to express our profound sorrow at the terrorist attack on French magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris yesterday. This horrendous act goes against fundamental values that form the bedrock of democracy in Europe, namely freedom of expression, freedom of thought and freedom of the press.
As a European institution, the EPO wishes to affirm its unreserved solidarity
with the democracies of Europe and the world in the face of this appalling act
of violence. Staff at all sites have been invited to observe a minute's silence
today in memory of the victims and their families.
