Is a translation of the international application required?

Overview

4.1.11.2 Applications filed in Dutch

4.1.044If the EPO is IPEA for an international application originally filed in Dutch with the Netherlands Patent Office as receiving Office, the applicant need not file a translation of the international application since the EPO as IPEA will use the published version of the international application as received from the IB, which will be in English, French or German. It should be noted that the demand and amendments under Article 34 PCT must be submitted to the EPO as IPEA in the language of the international publication (see points 3.1.019 and 4.1.043).
