Last week the EPO introduced its art collection to the public by launching the new documentary titled "Exploring Art at the European Patent Office". With two digital events the Office now offers further insight on its art collection, and invites to an exchange with some of the artists portrayed in the documentary.
In Art@Five on Thursday, 22 April, at 17.00 hrs, Annemieke Reedijk (Principal Director Operations, HBC, EPO) discusses with Julian Nida-Rümelin, Philosophy Professor at the LMU Munich and former German Minister of Culture, about the relationship between science/technology and art/creativity: How can art and science inspire and enrich each other? What are examples of successful artistic engagement with science and technology? This first-ever digital talk about art at the EPO is moderated by art historian Lisa Zeitz, Editor in Chief of Die Zeit's art magazine Weltkunst, and can be viewed at www.epo.org/art-collection.
A Watch Party on Facebook on Friday, 23 April, from 19.00 hrs onwards, offers the possibility for lovers of art to watch the documentary "Exploring Art at the European Patent Office" together with some of the artists portrayed in the film, and to exchange with them. So far, Ena Oppenheimer, Ivan Suletic, Susanne Pittroff, Heringa/ van Kalsbeek, Charlotte Giacobbi have already signalled their intention to attend, and might be joined by Malene Landgreen. Anyone interested in joining the Watch Party are invited to go to www.facebook.com/europeanpatentoffice
