AI Training for National Patent Offices

This online course helps participants build the skills and confidence to work with AI by combining complementary forms of learning. Through self-paced modules, expert-led lectures and interactive hands-on sessions, participants explore AI in a safe and supportive environment and learn how AI is a practical skill developed through use, reflection and exchange with others. 

The programme consists of three elements: 

• The AI Explorer Pass provides the theoretical foundation: Through four self-paced learning and a knowledge check module, participants are introduced to the essential concepts of AI, including key capabilities, limitations and responsible use in everyday work. Completing these learning modules is recommended before attending the live lectures. 
• The online lectures deepen participants' understanding through expert perspectives on topics such as AI in action, responsible AI and future developments. The lectures are recorded and made available in the course room for later review. Each lecture concludes with a non-recorded Q&A session, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion. 
• The Knowledge Nuggets focus on practical application of AI using Copilot: The six short, interactive online sessions demonstrate how AI can support everyday tasks, including communication, content creation, analysis, knowledge management, prompting and the use of AI agents. The sessions are not recorded.  

Together, the self-paced, live and practical elements create a learning journey that moves from awareness and understanding to experimentation and application.  

Throughout the course, participants will be supported by tutors and can exchange ideas and comments in a forum. Upon completion of the course, including the knowledge-check quiz and feedback survey, participants will receive a certificate of completion.
