7.2.1 Waiving the remainder of the six-month period

Furthermore, if after the communication under Rule 161 and 162 is issued, the applicant wishes the EPO to start substantive examination or, if applicable, supplementary European search, they must explicitly declare that they waive their right to file further amendments and to pay claims fees for the rest of the six-month period and request that the EPO start the proceedings as if the six-month period had expired.
