Sun shines on Munich Pride as over 250 000 celebrate
Last Saturday, the EPO Rainbow Group, their friends, their families and allies joined Munich Pride.
In glorious sunshine, and with temperatures close to 30°C, the 20 000 marchers on the parade, together with more than ten times as many by-standers, celebrated LGBTQIA+ identities and voices, alongside promoting advocacy and allyship. Our Rainbow Group was one of 200 groups to join the four-hour march through Munich, which included a stretch near our Isar headquarters.
A call for freedom, diversity and unity
The EPO is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion, and places great value on ensuring that all employees, including our LGBTQIA+ staff, feel valued, embraced and can be themselves in the workplace. While Pride is about visibility, it is also about protest and remembrance. The motto of this year’s Munich pride was “Liberté, Diversité, Queerité” – a rallying call for self-determination and unity to ensure we collectively work to preserve hard-won freedoms.
