3.2. Meaning of terms in the relevant technical field

In T 1307/17 the board stated that there was a distinction between absorption and adsorption in the context of pure chemistry. However, during the assessment of sufficiency of disclosure, it was essential to verify the meaning of the terms in the technical field of the claimed subject-matter – in this case high-voltage switchgear rather than pure chemistry. In this technical field, the two expressions were used interchangeably.
