How can I as a patent attorney or lawyer from Moldova request entry on the list of professional representatives before the EPO?
You can request your entry on the list of professional representatives before the EPO during a period of one year from the effective date of the accession of Moldova, i.e. 1. June 2026, and upon fulfilment of the three following cumulative conditions (Article 134(3) EPC):
Nationality requirement
You must be a national of an EPC contracting state. An exemption from the nationality requirement can be requested (Article 134 (7)(a) EPC).
Requirement of place of business / employment in Moldova
You must have your principal place of business or employment in Moldova.
Entitlement
You must be entitled to represent natural or legal persons in patent matters before the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) of the Republic of Moldova. Where such entitlement is not conditional upon the requirement of special professional qualifications, you shall have regularly acted in such a capacity in Moldova for at least five years. An exemption from this requirement can be requested if you provide proof that you have acquired the requisite qualification in another way (Article 134 (7)(b) EPC).
Your request for entry must be accompanied by evidence showing that you fulfil the above requirements. Detailed information on the documents to be submitted is provided in Form 52302 (Republic of Moldova – Accession to the EPC: Request for entry on the list of professional representatives before the European Patent Office). The form, together with the instructions, is available on the Options for representatives page in the Law & practice section.
Please submit your request using the EPO contact form, where you can select and upload your file. Please note that the MyEPO online service for requesting entry onto the list of professional representatives is currently restricted to successful EQE candidates.
